George Coleridge', in which he explores his childhood and in which he repeatedly calls George his 'earliest Friend'. ] June (early) STC delivers the copy for the second edition of Poems to Cottle in Bristol and sets off to walk to Racedown to visit WW. 4 (Sun) He preaches at the Unitarian chapel in Bridgwater. 5 He breakfasts with Josiah Toulmin, Unitarian minister in Taunton and then sets off to walk to Racedown.
July 1 (Fri) STC receives an offer from Perry, the editor, of the job of co-editor on the Morning Chronicle in London. ) He does not like London, he tells Poole, but he must pursue 'those two Giants, Bread and Cheese'. A rich widow, Mrs Evans, of Darley, Derbyshire, is captivated by STC and offers him £150 a year to teach her children. STC visits Derbyshire and leaves Mrs C there for a few days 'as my hostage'. August (early) STC visits Ottery briefly, alone, and is greeted with delight by his family.
